Hi to everyone!
I just moved to kubuntu 9.10 after about 30 minutes of kubuntu netbook remix which i did not like and format shortly after the installation 8)
I used Mepis since early may, on a Asus EEEPC 900 a and I was a bit concerned to install the full distro on the little one, considering that it has only 8 GB.
But to my surprise, it works much better with the full distro rather than the remix for netbook.
Ok, this was the story, now some questions.
I consider myself a newbie in Linux world, so think like I'm a 3 year old kid who sometimes can walk but when tries to run, fall. Be patient with me
I know some basic commands and I use terminal alot but I used windows for so many years that I still have alot to learn and to complete my rehab.
1)with Mepis, i used alot synaptic and I installed it also here on kubuntu.
Do you have a safe set of repos which I could add, such like community repos?
2) although kubuntu worked fresh out of the box, i don't like network manager and I replaced it with wicd. Now I have anyway a small issue due to my ignorace mainly:
2)I want my little one to connect to internet not only by wireless connection (currently working) but also by ADSL (pppoe) and by connecting to wireless router by cable. I tried both but maybe I don't have the programs installed or the knowledge to set these up?
3)on the local italian forum everybody suggests to install eeecontrol. I couldn't find it on any repo. Could you suggest me where to get it and how to set it?
I think for now there are enough questions. I really do like what I see in my first night with kubuntu and this will stay my distro for long time. Later today I am planning to install it also on my desktop, but i need to fix the connectivity problems listed above.
