I have found that printing from Okular can be so slow that you are fooled into concluding that it doesn't work. When you try to print, look for the little printer icon in your system tray, lower right. Click it, and if it reports, "Processing", be patient. If it reports, "Stopped", close Okular and try again.

you can set up your printer in System Settings->Configure Printers, and always "add New Network" printer. also i have noticed lately most printer i plugin via usb (mostly copystar, or hp) automagicly install themselves. first you will get a popup about it finding a printer, and a min or so later it will say <model> printer configured and ready.
