running kubuntu 9.04, when I try to boot I get the message "no active partition found. please reboot computer" or something to that effect. I can load w/super grub. I sudo grub, geometry, and root-setup-quit; but I still get that message...

You need to use GParted Live CD to set a boot flag on the partition you wish to boot.
(In GParted live Cd it is at Partition > Manage Flags.)
