    Flash sound doesnt work?

I cant seem to get the sound to work on youtube or any other websites. The video plays fine but there isnt any sound. I google this and cant find any suggestions that work.

ive tried everything here. i know its ubuntu but they seem to be very similar and most problems i have had have worked through ubuntu fixes. But nothing here worked

    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=220494

This here didnt do anything for it

sudo apt-get install alsa-oss 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 6 not upgraded.

sudo kate /etc/firefox/firefoxrc i got a bunch of errors. Btw i prefer opera to firefox so i would prefer a fix that would work opera too

I didn't notice which distribution you are using; if it's 9.04 or 9.10, this can be a pulseaudio problem.

            Code:
            ALT-F2 padevchooser
This will put an icon in your system tray. Left click the icon and choose 'Volume Control'. Choose the 'Playback' tab. Start firefox and start playing a video. You should see an entry that says something like 'Alsa-plugin firefox' You may need to increase the volume on this. Also make sure the dropdown box points to the same soundcard shown in the 'Output Devices' tab.
