    Help installing Kubuntu: Permission Denied.

    Ok, so I tried downloading Kub for the 2nd time, 1st download failing. I extracted the .rar to a CD. It worked, blah, blah, ran Wubi.exe, unpacked for demo because I wanted to see that first, before finishing, it came up with "An error occurred:
    Permission Denied
    For more info see the log file"(Picture attached)

    I think I have to take ownership of it using cmd but I
    m not sure how. The log file is below.(Also attached)

    No, no, no!

    You must download the ISO image, not a .rar file. Try the 9.10 daily build image, from here:

    http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/daily-live/current/


    Or, if you intend to do the WUBI thing, follow this:

    but I dunno how to get Kubuntu with WUBI -- beyond my skillz, I guess. :P

        WinRAR mistakenly recognizes .iso's as archives. You should use "Burn image" option in your recorder.
        <br />Have YOU signed the Ubuntu code of Conduct? I did it at 10 AUG, 2009!

          I know what an iso is, but the file type for the file I downloaded was a WinRAR Archive. I downloaded from http://www.kubuntu.org/getkubuntu/download using the BitTorrent Desktop i386 link. And ya, I know what a torrent is and how to download it. I will try your suggestions though, but my cd is write protected now and I can't erase anything:P One thing Im wondering, if you say this isn't the right installer, than what is it and what can I do with my new cd?

              Heh -- you're neither the first nor the last to stumble on the ISO image file format -- no worries.

              #1 in the FAQs in my signature has guidelines that you'll need for a successful burn.

                Well it didnt go so good. I ran the demo and it took forever to load, so i restarted and tried another run option, it worked. The mouse was a lot more sensitive and I couldn't connect to my network. I tried switching users to see what that looked like and couldn't find the one to log back in(there were at least like 8 accounts with passes i didnt know)When I restarted to switch back to Vista, it was messed up and couldnt start, but after restarting again, it was then that i got on and typed this. I probably wont be getting back to K anytime soon, maybe.
