Newbie needs help- Kubuntu not connecting to internet

Hello,
I've recently installed the newest version of KUbuntu as dual boot with Vista and it can't seem to detect the connection. It keeps saying "not recognized". It was the same with Ubuntu. As you can see, it is plainly working with Vista 64 bits. My modem is a Siemens SpeedStream 6520.
Oddly, I once tried a live CD to boot up on an old Linux distribution of Ubuntu and it was able to connect.

I've made my searches and only found some other complaints about the SpeedStream 6520 but no hints of solutions. I badly want to start using and learning Linux.

You might trythis advice, or this (which looks a little dangerous to me). The saving point about the latter advice is that most malware won't work with Linux

Thank you for the help but it didn't do the trick even though I didn't try to disable the firewall on the modem.
It already was directly plugged in the ethernet port and I don't know what to try next...
