Using Kubuntu as a firewall/router

Im thinking of using my kubuntu box as a firewall/router also as a file server later on but for now I just want to get a firewall up and running. Is there a good tutorial out there that explains in detail how to set up a firewall. I have used linux before and call myself a novice user.
