program for the os selector

hi,
i have used caixa magica ( a portugues linux distribution ) and there was in the system commands a tool that was giving me the possibility to a priori create a place in the boot-loader, and some more things, like time, place ,....
and i would like to know if there is some way to install it also in my kubuntu
by this way i dont want to reinstall the grub by the live cd, it will make my life easier
