If I try to install widgets, they install up in the top left corner without a long horizontal bar. How do I get the long bar at the bottom with the clock and the trashcan on the bottom right and the task manager in the bottom left?

Re: Cant add task bar to bottom of screen
But, then I get a 3 inch long taskbar. Then I click on the little square and I can stretch it to span the entire bottom of the screen. But then, how do I add a clock and trash can and get them to right justify ? And how do I add widgets like Application Launcher and get it to left justify.
Before I used to get the sliders to adjust the size of the taskbar.I cant get those to appear anymore.

Re: Cant add task bar to bottom of screen
Once the Task BarPanel is added, you click on the Cashew at the right-end of the Task BarPanel. From there you can make changes to the Task BarPanel, add Widgets, ...
You can also just right-click on an empty area of the Task BarPanel and go from there as well.
Edit: Corrections made (thanks Fintan)Windows no longer obstructs my view.

Re: Cant add task bar to bottom of screen
That horizontal bar is called a panel.
You can add widgets by right clicking on a panel and choosing "add widget".
You can add your taskbar to the panel in this fashion.
To move widgets around click on the cashew on the panel and point your mouse to the widget you wish to move around.
In this mode you can also resize / move the panel to your wishes.
To add a panel right click on the desktop and choose "add panel"
It will appear at the top and spread accross the desktop. To move it around click on its cashew and choose " screen edge" to move it to a side or the bottom.
Here is mine:

Re: Cant add task bar to bottom of screen
That makes me believe that you have the Foldier View widget intsalled, and that it's maximized. This particular widget sits 'on top of' the actual Desktop. If it's maximized, then your right-clicking within the widget and not on the underlying Desktop.
When you right-click, opt for the Foldier View Settings and change the size - reduce it so you can see the Desktop underneath it. Then right-click on the actual Desktop and follow Fintan's steps.Windows no longer obstructs my view.

Re: Cant add task bar to bottom of screen
That was kinda it. I I had to click on Folder View Settings and change it from Show the Desktop Folder to Show A Place.
But I don't like this setting as much as Show the Desktop Folder because I can't seem to be able to show the desktop.
If I pick Show A Place then the desktop is not a choice.
If I pick Specify a Folder and then pick /home/john/desktop, then all the icons on the desktop have the extension . desktop. Looks weird.
Am I making this too hard? I've been using Kubuntu for months.

Re: Cant add task bar to bottom of screen
The 'fastest' way is just to remove the Foldier View widget. Click on the Cashew in the upper right corner and then on Add Widgets... and scroll down to the Folder widget. It will have a red - sign, indicating that it's installed. Click on it and choose to remove the widget. Folder View widget (on your Desktop) will be gone, and you will have access to your Desktop.Windows no longer obstructs my view.
