Can't edit file because it is 'read only'

So I found out that there is a bug with DHCP, and I've found the work around for it. Only problem is that when I type sudo vi /etc/dhcp3/dhclient.conf and then go to edit the file, it won't let me save it because it says that the file is read only.

How do I get around this?

    Please disregard this.

I ran sudo dolphin in a terminal and that gave me the permissions I needed.

That is VERY DANGEROUS!! If you don't know what you are doing, having launched Dolphin fom a console using sudo can result in you making your system totally unuseable.

From the console, you should have used visudo instead.

Thank you for the tip! I'll be sure to use visudo from now on.

As you have not identified the version of Kubuntu you are using, see also: RootSudo
