Okay like many other people I've noticed, I am having a problem establishing a internet connection in Kubuntu 9.04 32bit and 64bit
I am moving soon which my help what with a new moden and all... but the one I am using here is a speedstream 5100
I was assuming that it was my foxconn board A79-S I belive (its the red one with 7.1 surround and dual lan) but ubuntu used to work at my old apartment w/o any problems and it won't work here either...
Like most people asking questions here I am so heavily used to windows that I get lost very easily in linux.. But I love it so far... Would love it more if I get the internet together but I digress...
I've tried to setup my connection in the network manager... I put the mac address in the feilds for the wired connection I got confused on the DNS thing just under it. I set everything else to automatic where I could and nothing....
Read some more trouble forms on the Vista based pc I am on now and tried to set up my connection using
sudo pppoeconf
again that did nothing...
from there I used what commands I could remember (because I have to keep switching pcs) and got the following info...
Sudo pon
/usr/sbin/pppd: In file /etc/ppp/peers/provider: unrecognized option '/dev/modem'

I am at a total loss and I hope the information I've provided is enough to get some kind of help. I apologize for any confusion or fustration in advance... I really don't want to go back to windows but without the internet kubuntu is pointless for me even if I really like it...
