    cannot activate FGLRX from ATI/AMD

    Hi

Just like the topic says...I cannot activate FGLRX via hardware driver menu . If I punch "active" nothing happens

I want this as " compositing is temporarily disabled" and I think I need FGLRX drivers for this.

As far as I know you simply have to install the driver and choose openGL in the desktop effects menu.
There should be no need to activate your driver.

I used the program 'envyng' to install the proprietary ATI driver, but note that the driver for the latest Xorg (used in jaunty) does not support some of the older video cards, so first check if your card is supported (ATI website).

    Hope that helps,

you can also get the package from ati for your card will come as a shell script (.run)
to use it just run sh <package name>, jockey has issues in 9.04 i have never gotten it to work w/ my ati card . always had to manually install the drivers (envyng work too, i would try that first)
