Having trouble connecting t-mobile dongle to net

Hey linux noobie here seeking help well im running kubuntu 9.04 and have a t-mobile dongle (huawei e160) i would like to use the problem is it won't connect. ??

I tried using network manager plasma but well it shows up fine and then nothing it says it's disconnected i looked in manage connections and mobile broadband i see i have to set up a connection manually enter details etc if this is the case or should it just work

i think so far i have the right details althought i don't have one bit of a clue lol and help would be great im currently lending my bro's laptop and dongle (Vista User lol).

Default kde network manager has problems even in simpler situations. I think you should start solving your problem by replacing it by wicd.
