Ugh, no audio in flash videos

Ok, so I've fixed this several times before. For some reason this time around its more difficult.

    I've tried this:
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=204022

    This:
    http://www.macewan.org/2006/06/01/ho...-linux-dapper/
I actually do not have the directory: "/etc/firefox/firefoxrc"
I have /etc/firefox-3.0 but no firefoxrc

Sound in everything else is working fine.
I've installed codecs & the firefox flashplugin

    Also...
    sudo update-flashplugin
    sudo: update-flashplugin: command not found

How did you guys fix this??

arrg, these are from 2006. You always needs to look for workarounds in your current distribution. Add "jaunty" or "9.04" to the search (works great in google).

I have flash working with no issues whatsoever in two different computers: 32 and 64 bits. We should figure this out soon.

Can you run this in a terminal? (or just search flash in your package manager), what do you see? I see this in 32 bit:

    Code:
    $ dpkg -l |grep -i flash
ii adobe-flashplugin 10.0.22.87-2jaunty1 Adobe Flash Player plugin version 10
ic flashplugin-nonfree 10.0.1.218+10.0.0.525ubuntu1~hardy1+really9.0.124.0ubuntu2 Adobe Flash Player plugin installer
You mentioned the codecs, you did install the kubuntu-restricted package, right?

Yes, I have the restricted formats installed. I double checked.

      michael@i530:/etc/X11$ dpkg -l |grep -i flash
ii adobe-flashplugin 10.0.22.87-2jaunty1 Adobe Flash Player plugin version 10
ii flashplugin-installer 10.0.22.87ubuntu2 Adobe Flash Player plugin installer

Re: Ugh, no audio in flash videos

I only have the first of these three, how about you uninstall the other two and try again? Also, can you try in Konqueror? If it works in konqueror and not in firefox, it could have something to do with non-kde applications and audio ... do you have audio in non-kde apps such as vlc or mplayer?

I have sound in amarok, vlc, mplayer, etc.
No sound on flash based apps in Konqueror and Firefox.

Reinstalled & added another package I found:

          michael@i530:/etc/X11$ dpkg -l |grep flash
ii adobe-flashplugin 10.0.22.87-2jaunty1 Adobe Flash Player plugin version 10
ii flashplugin-installer 10.0.22.87ubuntu2 Adobe Flash Player plugin installer
ii flashplugin-nonfree 10.0.22.87ubuntu2 Adobe Flash Player plugin installer (transit
ii flashplugin-nonfree-extrasound 0.0.svn2431-3 Adobe Flash Player platform support library

          Still no sound.

I hope you did the first thing to get audio in flash videos - PCM. If not, pick speaker icon in system tray, choose button Mix and see slider for PCM sound. Default is down and must be up.

PCM slider is at max. Good idea though.
                Still no sound.

Ahhh, why is this so difficult....

                  Ok. I've got sound!

BUT, the sound is coming from my motherboard & not my sound card...haha
I have my sound card set as the primary (see attached image)
Most of the sliders (including PCM) appear under HDA Intel and not my Audigy tab.

                  Problem. Fix??

Re: Ugh, no audio in flash videos

So everything that goes through that PCM mixer is definitely going through my motherboard's sound card. I have headphones plugged in & I can hear things such as the startup sounds, flash videos, etc..

So I would really like those sounds to be re-directed to my primary sound card instead. I've done some looking around & cannot find any solutions.

                    Any ideas?

go to the setings window in you'r pick and click on audio output (top of list) if the HDA Intel is at the top drag the one you want to the top of the list.

Well I set "Creative Tech...." as the top of every one of those Device Preferences on the left side.

The logon sound now comes through my Creative Audigy card....however flash videos still go through the HDA Intel.

                        Still not working/

Well I did a complete removal of everything flash related & reinstalled while my Creative card was set as #1 everywhere. Still no fix.

                          Where is the config file?
Maybe I can find where it defines the device output for the PCM

No. I guess I'll look into that.

I'd rather not though because I use both outputs on my vista partition.
