Hi Guys,
Its been my second time to go back using linux and I found kubuntu amazing. One problem I have is that all the effects are too slow on my laptop. Below are the commands I entered and the results:
joseph@allan:~/ettercap$ free -m
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 1944 1855 89 0 65 968
-/+ buffers/cache: 820 1124
Swap: 486 0 486
joseph@allan:~/ettercap$ df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda6 9.5G 3.4G 5.7G 38% /
tmpfs 973M 0 973M 0% /lib/init/rw
varrun 973M 344K 973M 1% /var/run
varlock 973M 0 973M 0% /var/lock
udev 973M 164K 973M 1% /dev
tmpfs 973M 12K 973M 1% /dev/shm
lrm 973M 2.4M 971M 1% /lib/modules/2.6.28-11-generic/volatile
/dev/sda5 171G 31G 141G 18% /media/disk
/dev/sda1 118G 25G 93G 22% /media/disk-1
I wonder why my kubuntu runs so slow and I am just opening 13 applications and this are all scite applications.
My laptop is core 2 duo, 2GB of RAM, 64bit Dedicated VGA+shared and 1OGB for Kubuntu (32bit) disk space. Do you have any suggestions that I should consider so I can improve aside from never going back to windows. Most of my time im using kubuntu.
