Fixing the MBR after installing Windows XP

A very happy Kubuntu Jaunty user its perfect with no issues. But what I want to do is install Windows XP on my second internal hard drive. I am a serious amateur photographer and there a few things I need to do in Windows that Kubuntu cant do such as my Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop Elements. I'm sure the MBR record will get messed up.

My setup is two internal hard drives sda1 750 gig with Kubuntu and sdb1 80 gig with nothing on it. I would like to install Windows XP on the sdb1 80 gig so if I do this will it mess up the MBR and if so how do I restore it. I do have all my data backed up to USB external drives bit really don't want to have to install Kubuntu again as its running perfect no issues.

Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

I use vmware player to access adobe stuff in a winxp guest.works great and I don't have to dualboot.

There are plenty of posts / threads / how-to's here.

Otherwise have a look here:

Look at "How to dual boot Linux and Windows XP (Linux installed first) -- the step-by-step guide with screenshots" on http://apcmag.com/how_to_dual_boot_l...lled_first.htm

A couple of other solutions spring to mind;
First, you could try cinepaint http://www.linuxlinks.com/article/20...CinePaint.html
or gimpshop, which is the gimp modified to match more closely the photoshop interface
You could check how both of your packages run in wine.
Wine is related to crossover which has specifically targeted adobe applications for use under linux.
If wine doesn't play nice then get a trial of crossover.
You don't need a license to drive a sandwich.
