I Can't Even Get To Install Kubuntu 9.04 on AMD Athlon 1.2 GHz

I downloaded the 64 bit version of 9.04 per the website.
Burned it on a CD using NERO from another computer.
The file extension is ...ISO and Windows XP doesn't recognize the file type.
The computer only has 256 MB of RAM...will it still install?
I plan to increase the RAM, but I can't get it to even recognize the .ISO file extension...what's next?

"Burning an iso" is a special procedure to create a Linux bootable disk. If the disk you have made still has the extension iso it suggests that you have just copied it to the CD. Have a look at "BurningIsoHowto" on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto

And, you should go for the Alternate Install Disk, which uses far less RAM to install, instead of the Desktop Disk.
