    White bars above/below windows

I installed kubuntu yesterday, and I've liked it a lot so far. However, after enabling desktop effects, white, striped bars appear above and below all windows. When I turn off desktop effects, they go away. This doesn't happen with plasmoids or Yakuake, just normal windows. Has anyone else had a similar problem, or does anyone know a fix? Also, my screen has been flickering, but I've heard that that isn't uncommon, so I'll look around some more.

EDIT: I just noticed that the white bars affect tooltips too.

These things are tough to debug, it may be related to your card. On my ATI IGP (HD3200) Desktop Effects work great when they work, but they get turned on and off randomly.

The quick answer is: look into the advanced settings, you can see which of the very many possible ones are on. You may be having issues with something like shadows, etc. ... (just disable whatever is giving you trouble)

      Thanks! It was the shadows.
