Java will not load properly

Hey guys. So, I have Kubuntu 9.04 and I tried visiting www.xxxchatters.com, a website that requires the java applet to run properly. However, it would not load completely; it would only display the main chat window and not the area in which i could type and send a message or the one on the right-hand side where i can select specific users. I installed java, so I dont understand the problem.
Can someone help me please?

Go here and read the instructions carefully. I am about as new to Linux as it gets and it only took me 10min to get Java up and running. I hope this helps.
