    [solved] Need help on dualboot message

    It will sound strange but This machine should run only Kubuntu. I installed Kubuntu and told it to use the whole hard-disk. This should mean that previous windows software was overwritten. Unfortunately after a view boots I get for some reason a Grub dual-boot window and there I see my Win XP .

    How is this possible and how to delete/wipe/check my disk from other software than Kubuntu

    I think it's easier to see the drive from Kubuntu, just install and run gparted (please make sure you don't change anything).

    Otherwise, how about you try from the live CD? It should allow you to explore the hard-drive. Can you actually boot into XP? It is most likely wiped out. Is it possible that you are now reading the boot loader (grub) from a different device that already had grub installed (with an older configuration)?

      What I found with Gparted is the following on my 120GB disk;

      /dev/sda1 locked ex3 / 110.19Gb 5Gb used 105.14 GiB boot
      /dev/sda2 locked extended 4.31Gib --- ---
      /dev/sda5 locked linux-swap 4.31 Gib --- ---

            did you check in the bios where you are booting from? Is that the right place?

              Also, if you are booting from the right place, you can clean up the Grub menu with this:
