dual booting 2 HD's one with Win Xp other Kubuntu 9.04

HI,

been trying to figure out how I can dual boot with 2 separate drives. One with Win Xp and other Kubuntu 9.04. I am totally lost! I could use a step by step on how to use GRUB or set it up.

To your Kubuntu system, your two hard drives are /dev/sda and /dev/sdb. To Grub, they are hd(0) and hd(1). Partitions on them will be numbered starting with 1 in Linux, but starting with 0 in Grub. So the first partition on /dev/sda will be numbered /dev/sda1 in Linux, but Grub will see it as hd(0,0).

Not a problem...install Windows XP.

Then install Kubuntu. When it gets to the hard drive config, specify manual, and set up your partitions on the second drive. The installer will automatically see that XP is installed, and add it to the grub menu.
