    wifi issue

I am somewhat new to linux and I am new to this distro. I usually stay away from linux because of issues with connecting to wifi. My problem is that it shows available networks but I can't connect. It asks me to make a password for a wallet so, I did that. I click "ok" then, it tries to connect to my router and comes up with error message. I don't know what to do.

My network adapter card is Airlink-101 AWLH6070

    Re: wifi issue

The KDE 4 Network manager is something of a work in progress- works for some, fails in others. It worked ok for me but having to type in a password every time drove me mad. It's a shame because in gnome (the other linux mega-desktop) it's so easy.

An observation - I cannot see the wireless icon anywhere on your desktop. Right click on the panel and select unlock widgets. Then right click on it again and select panel options/panel settings. A bar will form over your panel. You will see an "add widgets" button which will then enable you to add a network applet. Then select lock widgets. Clicking on the network icon may well be more intuitive.

However many people (myself included) have had more joy with WICD. Assuming you have a wired network connection, simply install it from within your package manager. The install process will remove the existing network manager. Hit alt+F2 and type wicd in the box and you will then run it and can configure it.

Clicking on the network icon should show you available networks. Just to the side of the name of your network you will see a bar. click on it and that will show the advanced settings button. Clicking that will enable you to enter your security etc settings. Hitting OK should then enable a connection.

Hope this helps - let us know.
