Kubuntu install hangs at checking disks

    Hi people.

Whenever i try to install kubuntu from inside windows or seperately, the installation hangs at 50% of checking disk... anyone have any idea what the prob is?

That could be one of several possible problems. First look over #1 in the FAQs in my signature.

Also, have you made a partition on your hard drive for Kubuntu? I would advise doing it that way, instead of wubi.

i've already made the partitions, but the prob comes 50% thru checking disks.

Instead of using from within windows, try this:

Set your bios to boot from optical drive (CD / DVD)
Put the Kubuntu live CD in the drive, reboot and choose the "live CD" option
Running the live CD will show you if all of the hardware on your computer is detected and give you a taste without changing your existing system. When you decide you like it, you can then install it.

Did you check the MD5sum before you burned the CD?

I also suggest u to check MD5sum. The problem might well be in that. I had problem with my copy of Jaunty and had to finally download it again.
