    8.10 reporting wrong CPU speed

Kubuntu 8.10 running on Dell D820 dual-core laptop is reporting the wrong speed for both cores. It's a 1.8GHz Intel dual core but the tray app reports 800 MHz on both cores.

BIOS is set up to allow scaling from 1.2GHz to 1.8GHz, so I'm not sure why it's reporting speeds below the minimum.

Is this real or just a display bug? Or is it ignoring the BIOS settings and allowing scaling below the BIOS minimums?

Prolly your powerdevil settings allow it to scale down when you're not pushing it. My Core 2 Extreme is overclocked to 3.45 GHz in BIOS, but runs at 1596 MHz most of the time, unless I go to converting .wav to .mp3 or something like that.
