Kubuntu compatible eSATA adapter?

I need an eSATA port on my mini-desktop, so I can boot my Kubuntu distro from an external SATA hard drive. Most PCIe adapters I've found require custom drivers to even work with XP. Can anyone recommend an eSATA adapter that will work plug-n-play without having to install custom drivers. Ideally it should be recognized by the BIOS when a drive is plugged into the port.

kubuntu installer disc recognized it, windows7 installer disc did not.
