No Sound After Upgrade To 8.04

No sound from Amorok, no sound from VLC, no sound, period. Amorok and VLC worked perfectly prior to the upgrade so, I know the hardware is supported. I searched for problems in this area, tried several "fixes" but, none worked. Playing audio CD's IS the purpose of this computer.
I'm new to Linux and will need some simple instructions. Appreciate your help !!!

I have no help for you. I hardly noticed the change when I updated from 7.10 to 8.04. Everything worked the same like in 7.10. Are you sure about the version?
You may have common problems with sound in 9.04 see http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3104435.0 for example.

The "fix" for 9.04 is a large amount of "gibberish" for someone, like me, not schooled in Linux.
But, I "fixed" the problem. Downloaded, and installed, SUSE 11.1. Amorok and their CD player worked from initial boot up. Downloaded VLC and it works perfectly, also.
Where there is a WILL, there is a WAY and I found it.
