Could it be you have upgraded the kernel? Jaunty on install is 2.6.28-11 whereas the latest one is 2.6.28-12.
When booting up, as soon as you see grub, after the Bios post, unless you see the grub menu, hit escape. If my suspicion is right you will see both those kernels. Boot into 2.6.28-11. Does that do anything?
