MH, care to elaborate? I for one don't quite follow you.
I mean the Kubuntu box may not include a 32 bit kernel with big memory support (notice I said may because I do not know that to be true) but certainly other linux distributions (aka boxes) do.

Can you burn a CD? If yes, then why don't you try a Kubuntu 64-bit Live CD. Download the ISO from here:

          http://www.kubuntu.org/getkubuntu/download

Check the 64-bit box. Verify the md5sum on the downloaded file, then follow the guidance in #1 in the FAQs in my signature. When it's done, boot it and we'll see how well it likes your hardware.

OK, you'll need to enable the System>Hardware Drivers to run that -- probably after you install and reboot you will see a blank black screen. Don't panic -- reboot to Recovery Mode and choose "Fix X", then reboot.

You might want to review #2 in my FAQs before you try it.

                    Re: Tell me your opinion

Just about any major Linux will run just fine on that hardware, so it's more a matter of what you want to use the machine for. If it's an "ordinary" desktop situation, Kubuntu is as good as any.
