Could someone please help me with my printer settings.
It's a desktop all-in-one (scanner, printer & copier). I can scan and copy, but it doesn't print.
I need to know which application to install.
Thanks in advance
Go to the kmenu and select application/system/printer toolbox (HPLIP).
Once you have this open you should see the printer and be able to configure it from there.
Here are the screenshots from th HP website http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/screenshots.html
They don't seem to have any more useful information than this, unlike Brother's site for their printers.
give it a go and see how you get on.
Hi the printer is recognised, but as soon as I click on print test page, it shows that the page is queued up, but then nothing happens.
Is probably a small little thing I'm missing from the add/remove software sectio.
Some advice please
Thanks
There were no real instructions on the HP site, but this site that they point to looks pretty good; http://openprinting.org/show_printer...-DeskJet_F2180
I would recommend following the instructions for cups installation and if you still have no joy there is a link to their forum section for HP printers.
It may well be that something is not quite right in cups.
I have two network printers which did not work from the printers utility, but when I followed the install instructions to set them up with lppd and cups everything worked very well.
If you still have no joy from there use this page to ask HP for help directly; http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/support.html
If anyone knows their gear it should be them, and they are reputed to support linux quite well from their work with the server part of their market.
