Need some help installing it onto my computer

ok so a friend told me about Kubuntu, so i downloaded the Iso and burned it to a disk and booted my other computer off it. the thing comes up all is good ran an integrity check, all is good. so i run the install, go through the steps, start the install and error... Failed installation at 15%. i hit retry a couple times it picks up and continues installing. Bam another fail at 20%, and at 22%, and at 25%, 26%, 27%, 30%, 34%, 35%, 36%, 40%, 41%, 42%, 50%. by then i just gave up because it is taking forever and errors keep popping up... i am pretty sure that means there is something wrong with something along the lines.... any help would be appreciated. thanks

when you say........ the THING comes up what do you mean? ......you get the boot screen with options......like testcd ........and you installed from thare?

try running it in live moad and see if it will load all the way to a livecd inviroment.

dispite what the itegrity check sead (I hate those things) it still my be a bad burn.

if it wont load as a livecd try burning agin at 4x slower is better with .ISO's

and if your burning program suports it (like K3b) have it verafy riten data.

Sounds like a bad CD burn. Try to burn another, with a better quality CD, and a slower speed, just in case.

If the computer can't read the CD correctly, it doesn't really matter what you do, it won't work. So, burn a new one.

Welcome to Kubuntu. It is great to be enthusiastic and want to try but disappointing when you burn a CD and it doesn't work. Sorry about that.

Here is a guide that may be helpful, it has several links
        http://linux.host22.com/1_5_Getting-started.html

Check the MD5sum of your image before you burn the CD.
Some people don't trust the integrity check - it is reportedly not too accurate, but don't worry.

Run the live CD first, see how it works and then try to install onto your system.
Before you install think about how much of your hard disk your want for Kubuntu and if you want to have another OS on the same hard disk.

Before all else, back up all of your important data.
