Question about ubuntu start-up screen and kubuntu

    Hi all!

I am running ubuntu interpid and things are going fine, I am thinking of changing to kubuntu just for a change more than anything else -

What issue I currently have with ubuntu is that there is start-up code when I boot up the machine, (this happens before the splash screen).

If I install kubuntu do you think it will replace this annoyance?

    Thanks!!

Re: Question about ubuntu start-up screen and kubuntu

The difference between ubuntu and kubuntu is visible at the end of the boot procedure so you won't see any difference.
The code you mean is probably the kernel messages. In my opinion it is not an annoyance and you certainly can find useful thinks in those messages in case of a problem. In my case I have disabled the splash screen to be able to see all the start-up messages.

Notice that you don't have to re-install kubuntu. You can follow this: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/InstallingKDE
