    8) Everyone may have to and does start somewhere. Good thing is lots of Linux feedback over the years and development have done wonders to do something wonderful it is today. Since Kubuntu is Ubuntu in itself from the roots, you could attain lots to hardware related (and not only) issue problem-solving at through the main Ubuntu forums. Take a look here it may be the answer: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=845911&page=4
" Re: Info and help for HP TX2500 Series
    Miracle ! I have sound !

The last 2 lines of my /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base file is like this :
    options snd-cmipci mpu_port=0x330 fm_port=0x388
    options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=toshiba position_fix=1

    That's right, it's toshiba !

Try it with the current version of ALSA driver first to be safe.
    I'm not really sure it's because I'm using ALSA 1.0.17 final ?

Make sure Master, Headphone, PCM, Front channels are not muted, and volumes are up.

I hope this works for you guys too !

    Isao"
So by that if you fallow the place where the sound driver is located in as text editor format. You sould have as the above mentioned and after saving to as the main file you might be hearing sound on you laptop.

Also when googling around try the ubuntu and tx2525nr pharze with the issiue you go after in the search line as well. By the way the onboard card I think is Realtek. See also down at the bottom where the speaker icon is and click on it then click the mixer button, and make sure that nothing is muted(uncheck if so), and that all sliders are turned up.
Looks also by as if the notebooks are Toshiba production and HP branded. This thread also fallows to the touch-screen and other power management (fan going loud and not only) .

    Good luck
