    T1i/500D/Rebel Kiss .cr2 raw support

Hi i have recently aquired the new rebel dslr and was wondering where i could post to get help with the raw files on Kubuntu. I can see the images in monotone pinkish color on DigiKam so i gather the updates aren't available yet. When i tried to install the cd that came with the camera into wine it asked me for .net 2.0 framework and crashed. I would be glad to hear some ideas on what to do to be able to work with the raws, thank you very much in advance.

those are certainly great progs but they still offer no support on the camera that just came out a week and some time ago. so another question that i would have is can it be possible to use mac software on a Kubuntu 9.04 box? and if so how would i manage that?

The Mac software wouldn't work on Linux. Your best bet would be to use a VM with Windows in it until support is built into Linux. It's just unfortunate that many companies are all Windows Exclusive when it comes to proprietary formats.

On another work, a quick search reveals it should work using GIMP. Check out this thread at the Ubuntu Forums http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-251074.html

yeah the thread is good however the camera i'm taking pictures changed their cr2 files and so i think i'll have to wait till they come out with the new camera compatibility (probably a while) so for now i'll have to figure out how to use VMware

Or you can go with Virtual Box. Either way, it shouldn't be so difficult using any of the two offerings: virtual box or vmware. Just ask if you get stuck. Personally, I use VMWARE because it's more mature than VirtualBox especially when it comes to networking and usb support.
