    where is package manager (add/remove)?

    Hi,
installed Kubuntu 9.04, the Jaunty Jackal-ope! And I want to add new software like fire fox. And it is not there. Why is this? When to " Application launcher then System" and is not listed. What happened?

    Thanks in advance,

Is this a fresh install or did you upgrade from a previous version?

If you upgraded from, say, 8.xx, and you had Firefox before, you should still have it now.

Open a terminal window, type firefox& and see if firefox opens. If so, then you've got it installed.

      Welcome to the party.

      Jaunty uses the new kpackagekit

      kmenu->system->kpackagekit
HP Pavilion dv6 core i7 (Main)
      4 GB Ram
      Kubuntu 18.10

Fresh install. but no package manager (add/remove) listed. Had it in 8.10. Has it changed to something else?

            If that doesn't work,

            Code:
            kdesudo synaptic&

Did the code you gave and get " [1] 25248 : command not found. Plus the kpackagekit I do not have this. How do I get it?

              Again Thanks!

That's odd that it gave a number instead of the command name.

                To get kpackagekit:

                Code:
                sudo apt-get install kpackagekit
You could do something similar for synaptic, if you prefer that.

Ok, found kpackagekit. Don't ask why. Maybe need glasses or what ever. So ok it is a program that adds/removes programs. I guess I was looking for the program(maybe the same to add/remove programs) But looks different and through me off. So thanks for your help and patience with me. And by the way the 9.04 is the best yet out. I am starting to really like. And will probably let go of windoze. I thing that is stopping completely is I like to play games and they run on windoze. So if I could play these games I have. I would totally flush windoze for good. Again thanks for your help.

Yeah, games (and print programs) are the only reason I keep Windows around these days too.

Have you tried running your Windows games under Wine? Apparently some people have a good bit of success with that. (I've never been able to get any of mine to work correctly, however.)

Glad you were able to find what you were looking for!
