    Scanner driver for EpsonCx5500 is RPM how to convert to .deb?

    I checked the Epson driver Site and found that the drivers listed for Ubuntu 9.04 were .RPM.
    How do I convert them to .deb files to install on kubuntu 0.04?

    Maybe with the "alien" > How To: Convert any package from one format to another (using "alien")

    ... but before that (Google finds):

    "davidpaul2020":
    To use your Epson CX 5500 on Ubuntu 8.04, log in to localhost, add printer and choose the driver for CX 5600.

    I just installed it and it works perfectly.

    I did a google and came up with a French ubuntu forum, translated it and there was a post suggesting the Stylus D68 driver. I does work...

      The printer part worked by default in 9.04, it's just the scanner that won't.
      I think I have bigger problems.
      The install I did was 9.04 in the AMD 64 bit version. The Rpm is for .i386.
      So I would need to convert that to 64 first.
      I did a google on Alien conversions, my conversion failed as it did not support the 64 bit 9.04 I am running ( Wrong Architecture)
      If I can't fix it then I'll have to dual boot to Xp just to scan or go back to PClinuxos as I know it works on it.

        Check this website for epson scanner drivers:

        Code:
        http://www.avasys.jp/lx-bin2/linux_e/scan/DL1.do
        There are 64-bit drivers available, in deb packages.

        Note that on my system, I couldn't get the 64 bit driver to work. I wound up installing a 32 bit ubuntu in a virtualbox just for the scanner, using the 32 bit driver. Klunky, but it works.
