[solved] programatically shut down from KDE?

Hi - is there a command line to bring up the "shut down" menu? (as in, go to K-Menu, click "Leave").

I want to configure a hotkey that brings it up so i don't have to go the KMenu, and I didn't know if "shutdown -h now" was such a wise thing to bust out in the middle of a session.

    Thanks,

There are many ways to do that:

As you wrote the "shutdown" is a one way to do the shutdown but you could use the dcop (KDE 3.5) or the the dbus (KDE 4). A few days ago > Topic: shutdown command in kde4 [solved]. For the KDE 3.5 / dcop look the "onocentaur's" links.

    Before you edit, BACKUP !

Why there are dead links ?

Thank you very much for the leads...

I found a better way to solve my problem. Embarrassingly, all i need to do is ctrl-alt-del and the desired window appears. Don't even need to use khotkeys... Voila.

      Thanks though!
