    help with adept

Hi! I am brand new and just installed dapper on my laptop. The thing that bewilders me is when i had the live-cd i could always do {sudo apt-get update} and get a list of updates and was able to install firefox and other packages.

When i do {sudo apt-get update) on dapper installed it only lists this
    Reading package lists... Done

thats all. I cannot do (sudo apt-get install firefox} because it says the package is missing.

any help on resolving this. I am brand new to linux so please be kind

    thanks

    Re: help with adept

You need to enable/add repositories in order to install things that were not installed from the live cd.

Basically, just follow the steps here:
    http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/sources.php

Or, you could also read this, from the Official Documentation wiki:
    https://wiki.kubuntu.org/InstallingSoftware
    https://wiki.kubuntu.org/AddingRepositoriesHowto

Just scroll down to the Kubuntu-related sections.
