    Pulse Audio as default

I'm using kubuntu 4.2 in Jaunty 9.4 and would like to set Pulse audio as default.
Currently I've got HDA and it keeps crashing on digital.

    Thanks in advance

KMenu>System Settings>Multimedia, and on the "Device Preference" tab, you highlight PulseAudio, and then you click the "Prefer" button in the lower right corner to raise PulseAudio to the top position on the list in the window.

      Hi dibl

did that, but in the Audio Capture section at the bottom of the screen I don't have the option of choosing.
      Audio Capture
Communication = HDA Intel (ALC883 Analog)
Accessibility = HDA Intel (ALC883 Analog)

could you shed some light for me?

I think you're going to have to fix the HDA system if you need to capture. PulseAudio is not a "device", it is a sound system like ALSA or OSS. Your HDA ALC883 is a "device". On my list, I have an HDA Intel STAC92xx, a Logitech USB headset, and a "USB device" that is actually a webcam.

Check out the link at #6 in the "Top 20" in my signature, and see if you can fix your HDA system -- that's your best bet. Also install alsa-base and alsamixergui, so you'll have some ability to use the ALSA system if PulseAudio doesn't do it for you.
