    (Solved) Startup problems

I just installed Kubuntu 8.10 on my old computer. The first time i started Kubuntu after i had installed it there was some problems with the picture, so i restarted the computer. After i had restarted it the loading wouldn't go longer then to the startup screen where you see the blue bar gets filled up. After the bar is full the screen goes black and my monitor turns into sleep.

I do also have Windows XP and Windows 7 on the same computer and they works as normal. Is there anyone else that have these problems? Or know whats wrong?

It does not help to boot from the CD.

Immediately after the bios you should see a menu. If you don't hit escape to reveal it. Select the recovery option which after a short while will reveal another menu. Select the "fix x" option. After that select continue normal boot or if you are presented with a command line type startx.

Does this produce any error messages?
