Here's the problem, in laymans' terms: Games written for Windows systems are designed to take maximum advantage of the graphics hardware and drivers for Windows. They will either not run at all, or totally suck, if you try to run them in a wine emulation on Linux, because they're not able to access the graphics hardware directly, in that manner that was expected by the programmer.

If Linux gaming is your dream, you need to launch your research skills at that subject. Since I know nothing about it, all I can do is give you a link or two:
