Re: cinelerra
There is another repo for it other than the Akirad repo... but I can't find the post here right now... I'll keep looking.
Dang it... I can't find it... I thought someone had mentioned there was a better repo for it than but all I find is this post http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...7953.msg148774 which probably isn't any help to you.

Re: cinelerra
I have so far stayed away from Cinelerra as it appears very unfinished to me. I work with video and film and for this I need something that do the job well and is VERY stable. So I dual boot to Win XP (sigh).
But searching for KDE applications the other day, I found a very interesting project. Not a HEAVY editor, but it look like something that can become a very good basic editor.
http://kdenlive.org/
As I see it, this is the most promising project regarding video on Linux I have seen so far. They have released a version earlier this year and seem to be in active development.
This is the one I will install and try out.Regards,

Re: cinelerra
ERRRRRG!!!! >
I got to this site... http://www.jurecuhalev.com/blog/2008...trepid...where they brag that cinelerra comes fully working out of the box with "Intrepid"....I followed their possible choices for install...my python crashes and now my package manager will not even work at all!---Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)
This is what I put in terminal:
root@MediaSlut:/home/davida# wget -q http://akirad.cinelerra.org/pool/addakirad.deb && sudo dpkg -i addakirad.deb && rm addakirad.deb && sudo apt-get update
root@MediaSlut:/home/davida# echo deb http://akirad.cinelerra.org akirad-intrepid main | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/akirad.list && wget -q http://akirad.cinelerra.org/dists/akirad.key -O- | sudo apt-key add - && sudo apt-get update
root@MediaSlut:/home/davida# http://www.kiberpipa.org/~gandalf/ub...inelerra/i686/ ./
Thanks for any help

Re: cinelerra
All righty now...fixed...it seems that not only did I create the file /etc/apt/sources.list.d/akirad.list, but those other commands piped some very mixed up stuff to /etc/apt/sources.list... I moved the akirad.list and then ended up deleting the content within the sources.list which gave a clean slate for the software manager to rebuild the info from my choices in the gui.
Thanks yooz very muchly

Re: cinelerra
Well, the line:deb http://www.kiberpipa.org/~gandalf/ub...inelerra/i686/ ./ goes into the sources.list and then "apt-get update "and "apt-get install cinelerra" work,,,
only after all of that I now get:
cinelerra: Depends: libmjpegtools0c2a (>= 1:1.8.0) but it is not installable
Depends: libquicktimehv (= 1:2.1.0-1svn20060912) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libx264-59 (>= 1:0.svn20080408) but it is not installable
so I will have to find out which programs use these and uninstall...any ideas how to make this as painlesws as possible?

Re: cinelerra
Thanks for the input mando_hacker, but I must say to resolve the issue means removing 114 of all my important core video and kde 4.2 packages etc...basically killing my system! This is so ridiculous...I wonder how it is that it loads to OpenSuse? This is too too bad as I really like Cinelerra, but it is not worth the sacrifice of my whole system.
Thanks so much for your imput

One solution that doesn't require destroying your system would be to install, say, intrepid without the kde-4.2 backports as a virtual machine using VirtualBox, or something like it. Admittedly a klunky way of doing things, but that's how I'm running several apps that won't coexist with kde-4.2.
