I have Comix installed and I was wondering if there is a way to make the comic book files display the covers as their icons in dolphin. Also was wondering if there was a way to do that with video files as well.

Re: Display Previews
You can have previews/thumbnails if there is a thumbnailer installed.
For the video files > Topic: Video PreviewsBefore you edit, BACKUP !

Re: Display Previews
...The cbz & cbr files though I'm not quite sure about those. Still can't seem to get them to display.
...Using the class KIO::PreviewJob allows you to generate small images (thumbnails) for any kind of file, where a "ThumbCreator" is available...
No "ThumbCreator" -> no previews... Until someone creates a "ThumbCreator" for the cbz & cbr. Before you edit, BACKUP !

Re: Display Previews
Apparently there is one. comicthumb.
DESCRIPTION
comicthumb creates thumbnails for x-cbz, x-cbr and x-cbt files. It is
usually registered in gconf (if available) and is then used automati‐
cally by some file managers (e.g. Nautilus or Thunar).
So there has to be a way to make it work with Dolphin, right?

It is a nice thumbnailer (python script), and with the Comix (File > Open) it does the thumbnails to the right place (> Thumbnail Managing Standard).
But the Comix is a Gnome (GTK) program so the KDE (Qt) can't use those thumbnails automatically.
With the KDE 3.5 there was a working trick to insert a .desktop file to the service directory (> Topic: Dolphin RAW image thumbnails ). I tried that with the Jaunty (/usr/share/kde4/services) but it is not working at here...Before you edit, BACKUP !

Re: Display Previews
I do appreciate your efforts. I have been in contact with the developer of Comix, and he is interested in knowing what I find out about this. He says he really doesn't know anything about KDE.
Hopefully this can work at some point in the near future, I'm going to research everything I can and work on it. Problem is I know absolutely nothing about these things and how they work so I' am really starting from scratch.

Re: Display Previews
Earlier:
No "ThumbCreator" -> no previews... Until someone creates a "ThumbCreator" for the cbz & cbr.
Now there is a thumbnailer > ComicBook Thumbnail Plugin
Before you edit, BACKUP !
