SOLVED - Visually compare two folders (and subfolders)

Do anyone know of a good KDE program to compare two folders? I am trying to consolidate all my pictures into one place so it is easier to keep everything organised and also easier to make backups...

I have some pictures that exist in two places and I need a program that can compare and show me differences.

I have been using Grsync (GTK) to back up pics... but it could kinda do what you are talking about, in simulation.

Or, Picasa (Wine) can "Find Duplicates" if you are just talking about pics... perhaps Digikam can do the same.

Edit: Noticed you were perhaps a bit more serious about the KDE app portion of your request... there is a Krsync if you prefer that to Grsync (correction).

Good tip about the backup app. I will take a look at that.

I know there are programs that can do a duplicate find of pictures. But I prefer to do this at the file level. I do not want to import all this into a photo manager first . It is exactly what I am trying to avoid.

Digikam will be my picture manager now, and I want to get the picture folders as organised as possible before importing and starting to work on them.

Just wish Digikam could read the Lightroom databases.

Dolphin with a split window might work for this.

I haven't used it myself, but from its description Komparator sounds like what you are looking for. If you have the universe repository enabled, you should be able to install it by entering

          sudo apt-get install komparator

          in a Konsole window.

Not really if I have not ovelooked something. I am trying to find a tool that can show me the differences between two folders without me going through all folders and subfolders. Colorcoded or something like that. I know of tools like this for MS Win, so they should exist for KDE as well.

Komparator sounds more like what I need. I will take a closer look at it.

Komparator does the job. It might not be as usefriendly as some others I have seen, but it is understandable, and it works.
