    Looking for GUI network tools

I do a bit of network setup and I am trying to collect a toolbox of apps that will help me with this.

Here is what I am looking for - all of the tools should run on KDE4 and not need any Gnome libraries.

    1. Network visualising app. - A friend of me is managing a big network and uses an application that displays the whole network as nodes connected with lines. The lines are animated and shows network traffic, if the line is down etc. You can drag the icons for the nodes around to get the best visual layout of the network. It is absolutely the best I have seen for checking out a network. And of course, I can not remember the name of the application. BTW - it runs on MS Win and is not opensource. So what is available in this area for Kubuntu?

    2. Simple network tools - ping, traceroute, finger etc. - I did a quick search through the forum and seems nobody have asked for this. But then again, my first language is not Engish, and I often miss the obvious because I do not know the language well enough :-)

    3. A tool to keep an eye on the network, the nodes, if they are online or not etc. More like a simpler version of number 1. On MS Win I use Look@LAN a lot. It is a very useful application to sort out smaller networks. Anything like this for Kubuntu?

    4. More advanced tools? I know about Wireshark and a few other tools. But feel free to suggest tools you think would be a good idea to keep in my toolbox. I am all ears :-)

And yes, there are a lot that can be done in CLI. But that will be in a different thread
