Loading screen , how long?

I burned the Kubuntu 8.10 version on Cd.
Booting from CD works but the loading screen (with the Kubunto logo and a thingy moving from left to right and vice versa to show the PC is not frozen) is shown for ages without really finishing.
Tried booting on two PC's , both have same issue....

What is normal loading time for Kubuntu 8.10??

If you look at "Top 20 Kubuntu FAQs & Answers" on http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3099811.0 particularly questions "#1. Installation Freezes at xx%" it suggests that the main cause is a bad burn.

How much RAM have you got? The Desktop (LiveCD) uses a lot of RAM. The Alternate (straight install) used much less.

FYI

I do not execute an Install, I select upper choice on first menu, the LiveCD version of Kubuntu.

...and is this a disk you have burnt yourself?
