problem exporting doc to pdf in abiword

I am on 8.04. When I try to "save as" a doc file in pdf format in abiword 2.4.6, the program appears to save but file created has 0 bytes. What is happening? Help appreciated.

I'm afraid I don't know abiword, but instead of "save as" have you tried to print and then select pdf from the print dialog box?
