Install of 8.10 hanging at 'copying files 53%'

Trying to install 8.10 and, every time, it hangs at the Copying Files ... 53% point... at least it sits at that point for at least 15 mins

I'm brand new to linux and I'm trying to install it onto an old pc ... have had to buy some new RAM as old stuff failed the memory test and wouldnt let me install ...

so, the RAM is ok but the install hangs ...

any ideas anyone?
