    toshiba: cant find wireless connections

hello, i am having a major problem with Kubuntu. i am running a toshiba sat. a215 s5837, newest version of kubuntu (literally downloaded it last week), and i duel booting with vista at the moment. my goal is to get rid of vista and completely run Kubuntu, but before i do that i at least need to be able to connect to the internet with Kubuntu. thats my only problem. im fairly new with linux in general, and i have no idea what to do. summing up my question:

how do i set up a wireless connection with Kubuntu? i cant find any wireless connections while in Kbu. but in Vista i can find the one i have at home. i have an atheros wifi card. can someone tell me what to do in simple words? (i tried looking through ubuntu help forums and stuff, but because i have to restart, log into kubuntu, log out, restart, log into vista, and find sites all over again, i need simple instructions)
