Alt-F2 doesn't work anymore, also screen saver freeze

Ever since I upgraded to K4.2, Alt-F2 doesnt work anymore.

Also, sometimes when the screen saver kicks in, sometimes it takes up about a 1/4 of the screen. Sometimes it will take all the screen. When it takes all the screen sometimes I cant get out of screen saver. It just locks up the computer. This is an ATI x300.

Any ideas about these 2 problems?

Try this...

Well, after reading some other posts other users posted some time ago, I guess the solution to the second problem would be the following:

Kubuntu Intrepid 8.10
Go to K-menu > Computer > System Settings > Advanced Tab > Power Management.

On General Settings deselect Lock screen on resume.

If it doesn't work try the following...

Advanced Settings -> Power manager -> edit profiles -> performance -> when the system is idle more than * minutes ->

Alt+F2 should start the krunner. Launch the Konsole and type there a command:

krunner

What kind of error do you get ?

It works if I type krunner. If I hit Alt-F2, nothing

Are the other shortcuts working ? Alt+F1 should start the K-menu (kickoff).


K > System Settings > Keyboard & Mouse -> Global Keyboard Shortcuts


Global Keyboard Shortcuts and there - KDE component: Run Command Interface

Default "Run Command" is Alt+F2. Is it there ?. Will it work if you make a custom shortcut ?

Well, I have a problem with Alt-F1 that doesn't launch K-Menu... I checked the settings on Global Keyboard Shortcuts and it was there under Plasma Workspace Scheme. What's happening here?

I had the same problem...thought it was something to do with the latest nvidia drivers which also killed the virtual terminals...nope.

Had to enable the F Lock on my keyboard

If I type krunner in console I have:
