HI, I am not new to linux, but I am new to the debian way of doing things. I have just installed Kubuntu, breezy edition and I am trying it out. I wanted to install koffice and take another look at it, since I haven't looked at it in over a year. From the screen shots it looks to have really matured as an office suite.
Like I said I am not new to linux but have been living in the redhat/fedora world for the past few years. I know how to install rpms with the gui tool and command line and have even ran a few source installs from tarballz from the command line. But I really don't understand how this adept package manager works. I know I could spend a few hours RTFMing but I would much rather just ask here for specific instructions. What I would love to know or have some help on, is specific step by step instructions on how to install koffice.
I have done the following but it doesn't seem to work:
I ran these commands:
wget http://people.ubuntu.com/~jriddell/k...iddell-key.gpg
AND
sudo apt-key add kubuntu-packages-jriddell-key.gpg
then I edited the file /etc/apt/sources.list
and added the following to it.
deb http://kubuntu.org/packages/koffice-15 breezy main
deb-src http://kubuntu.org/packages/koffice-15 breezy main
I opened up adept and do a fetch updates, then look for koffice using the filter. It shows up as not installed. When I choose to install it the "action" changes to BREAK(install) and then when I try to commit changes it gives me this error message :
There was an error commiting changes. Possibly there was a problem downloading some packages or the commit would break packages.
Can someone please point out what I am doing wrong or point me to some easy to follow step by step instructions to adding koffice to kubuntu. Thanks for any help you can lend
